Anime Vanguards: Wrathful Assault Traits and Trait Rerolls
Which traits matter, when Monarch is a trap, and how to spend rerolls after Wrath's End.
Traits are the quiet account killers in Anime Vanguards. A mid unit with Ethereal can outplay a Secret with Range 1, and a farm without Fortune feels broke forever. This guide covers the traits players actually chase — Monarch, Ethereal, Deadeye, Solar, Blitz, Fortune, and Marksman — plus when to reroll, how pity works, and how Codes feed your Trait Reroll balance during Wrathful Assault.
Where to reroll
Visit Mandra in the lobby upgrades / evolve area. Select a unit, spend 1 Trait Reroll per roll, and replace the current trait. Rarity of the unit does not change the cost. Evolving or transferring stats does not wipe pity on that unit.
Trait sheet (priority traits)
Monarch — 0.1% (pity 1,500)
Monarch grants roughly +300% damage, -10% SPA, +5% range, and forces a 1 placement limit. The damage looks insane until you remember multi-placement units lose copies. Net DPS versus baseline placement count is strongly positive on 1–3 placement carries and can turn negative on high-placement spam units. Use Monarch on expensive low-placement hypercarries and on Pride Sin runs in the Wrath Event. Do not Monarch a six-placement trash clearer just because the tooltip glows.
Ethereal — 0.175% (pity 858)
Ethereal gives about +20% damage, -20% SPA, +5% range with no placement tax. For most 3+ placement DPS units, Ethereal beats Monarch in real board DPS. It is the default endgame chase for flexible carries.
Deadeye — 0.375% (pity 400)
Deadeye adds large critical rate and critical damage. Put it on kits that already crit or that convert crits into team effects. Wrath (Assault) interacts with crit chains on Evils teams, so Deadeye on the right partner can snowball — see Wrath (Assault).
Solar — 0.5% (pity 300)
Solar mixes damage, SPA, and a big range bump. It is the comfortable mythic for AoE lane holders and units that miss leaks because their circle is too small.
Blitz — ~1.85%
Blitz is a clean -20% SPA spike. No pity mythic status, but it is a fantastic holding trait while you climb toward Ethereal or Deadeye. Many accounts play Blitz for weeks without shame.
Fortune — ~2.5%
Fortune boosts gold income and eases upgrade costs on farm-oriented units. This is mandatory thinking for economy slots. Never waste Fortune on a pure DPS carry.
Marksman — ~6.5%
Marksman is a range specialist mid tier. Use it when coverage matters more than raw multipliers, or as a stop-roll while saving for Solar.
Lower traits (context)
Scholar, Vigor, Swift, and Range fill the common pool. They are fine on temporary units. Do not sink thousands of rerolls trying to escape Range 1 on a unit you will replace next banner.
When to reroll (decision rules)
- Only reroll keepers. If the Tier List and your clear history say the unit stays, invest. If it is a stepping stone, stop.
- Farms first for Fortune. Economy traits print more upgrades than a slightly better mid DPS trait.
- Match trait to placement limit. High placement → Ethereal / Blitz / Deadeye / Solar. Low placement hypercarry → Monarch is on the table.
- Respect pity, do not worship it. Pity is per unit per trait chase. Plan banks of rerolls before you hard-pity Monarch.
- Event shop rerolls count. Wrath Event coins buy Trait Rerolls — budget them in Wrath Event.
- Battlepass rerolls are free power. Tier track hands out large reroll piles; claim them on the way to Wrath.
Codes for Trait Rerolls
Promo codes are the fastest free reroll injection. During Wrath’s End, strings like Assault and other update codes have awarded sizeable Trait Reroll bundles (some gated by level 10 or 30). Always check the live list on Codes before you buy rerolls with Robux. Redeem, then reroll — never the reverse if you are about to pity.
Also stack:
- Battlepass free and premium reroll tiers
- Wrath Event shop rerolls
- Quests, achievements, and limited login events
- Gem surplus only after banners you care about are handled — see Gem Farming
Suggested spend order for Wrathful Assault accounts
- Fortune on your main farm.
- Ethereal or Blitz on your primary multi-place DPS.
- Deadeye on crit partners used with Evils / Wrath comps.
- Solar on lane-hold AoE that leaks.
- Monarch only on proven one-copy carries you play in Pride or high-end content.
- Everything else waits.
If you are building toward Evils Teams, prioritize traits on the Evils carries you will actually slot beside Wrath, not on random off-element trophies.
Monarch vs Ethereal (short version)
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Unit places 1–2 copies and is a true carry? | Monarch is attractive |
| Unit places 3+ and you want max board DPS? | Ethereal usually wins |
| You need crit synergy? | Deadeye over both |
| You need gold? | Fortune on farm, not Monarch on farm |
Common reroll mistakes
- Monarching a high-placement unit because “Monarch is best.”
- Rerolling every new Rare the day you pull it.
- Ignoring Fortune forever.
- Spending the entire Assault code bank on a unit you bench after reading DPS Units.
- Chasing Monarch pity with empty inventory right before a new pass season floods rerolls.
Practice plan
- List three units you will still play in a month.
- Assign a target trait to each using the rules above.
- Redeem codes and claim pass rerolls.
- Roll in controlled sessions; stop on Blitz/Solar/Deadeye if the mythic bank is dry.
- Re-evaluate after you unlock Wrath (Assault).
Traits do not replace bad placement or zero economy. They multiply good decisions. For beginners still learning the lobby, return to Getting Started. For checklist-style spend priorities, use Tools. Community destinations are on Links.
Keep a written target list. Accounts that reroll with a list finish Monarch and Ethereal. Accounts that reroll by vibes own twelve Marksman supports and a dream.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Wrathful Assault and Anime Vanguards.
Is Monarch always the best trait?
No. Monarch forces a one-placement limit. It is excellent on low-placement carries and often worse than Ethereal on multi-placement DPS.
What trait should farm units use?
Fortune. It improves gold income and upgrade economics. Do not put Fortune on your main DPS carry.
How do I get Trait Rerolls for free?
Redeem Codes, claim Battlepass tiers, buy rerolls from the Wrath Event shop, and complete quests or events that grant reroll currency.
Does evolving a unit reset trait pity?
No. Evolving, normalizing, and stat transfers do not reset a unit's trait pity.
